John,

Slight drift thread, or back on track.... You need to staret collating Safety boat info. boats, drivers, experience, qualifications etc.... and pass to the SO asap for any chance of starting from Cowes... if that does not happen soon it will be a Hurst start again!!

I am seeing the RYA on Friday to discuss safety boat numbers required by them.
When I have these numbers I will post on here and then start collating boats that can help.

Thanks!

I have already picked up some problems that end what with the Royal Torbay involved in a large sailing reggata.

I will discuss with RYA various course options and come back.

How many boats do you think could help from your end?

Hard to say,
Kelvin used to work for Torquay Harbour master and many people form EPBSC (Exmouth) travel down to spectate/do safety - All I can suggest is to put it out there and see what responses/numbers come back

Jeremy Watts is on the confirmed entry list for RB12 so it must be something to do with Bladerunner.

I hear Mike Mantle-piece will be stepping into Johns shoes.

I'm sure he'll be good.

A well connected chap.

Cowes

I enjoyed running the last 2 Events.

I was asked by Mike Lloyd to look after Cowes 2010 because he had health issues.

I am not particulary interested in "running" things like this, but we managed to put on the 50th Cowes, which included 3 races, 2 x Marathon, a Friday and Sunday race & a Cowes Poole Cowes for smaller boats. Plus we ran 7 social functions over the Event.

For 2011, a slightly scaled down event, dropping the Marathon Cowes 100 on the Friday, we ran another CTC & P1 Superstock enjoyed their race.

For the 2 Events, My Thanks go to Sally Windsor & Rob Andrews and of course Laura & Martin - Quality people who made it work.

Mike Mantle has won the race twice, fairly sure he will do a great job.

Although we don't "get on" John I have to say that you did an amazing job with the Cowes Torquay Cowes in 2010 and 2011. I know how difficult, thankless and stressful that job can be and you also had other issues going on in your life so congrats on a job well done.

Of course the racers and everyone who loves the race should be thanking you as well. You kept the race alive and that IS the most important thing.

If he takes it on Mike will do a great job as he has the race in his blood and he sings from the same hymn sheet - long live the Cowes Torquay Cowes!!
