Well done John for the last two years at the helm, a big thank you from me and all in the BPRC, running races in an impossible climate needs miracles, and all the best to Mike Mantle too for picking up the baton!

I know from my experience as event director I'd rather be in the race rather than running it!

Does anyone have a feeling for how many marathon class boats may be taking part in the CTC this year ?

Safety / Observer Boats

Just to update for those yet to hear the recent changes --- The Cowes Torquay Cowes & Cowes Poole Cowes Races will both take place on Sunday, 26th August. Start off Hurst as last year.
No race now on Friday, as was originally announced.
Any offers of Safety / Observer boats from those who have not already been asked or have offered would be most welcome.
The more the merrier - come and be part of this great race - 52 years since the original race !
Race "HQ" once again is at Cowes Yacht Haven.
There will also be classic powerboats from the rally attending at C.Y.H. on Saturday - a taste of years gone by for those (like me) who remember !

Sadly I am in the States for the Bristol Speedway Nascar Race that day. I would like to wish all involved a safe and very enjoyable event and hope that I can see plenty of photos upon my return.

Sadly, no.

Please download the Media Accreditation Form for your Pit Pass and if you wish to ride on the Red Jet start boat. Please note there will be a £20.00 ticket charge this year. http://cowes2012.co.uk/index.php?id=7

Late July Update

Since I am back doing this thing again, some news and updates.

The web site for the event is >> cowes2012.co.uk

Cowes Torquay Cowes Course >> LINK

Entries for the CTC are looking good for 2012 you can view them on the web site.

We are hoping for a few more, Martin Levi is over in Rome this weekend promoting Cowes during the Roma Offshore Speed Race 2012.

Cowes Poole Cowes

This race which was first set up by Mike Lloyd in 2008 has always been supported by RYA National boats.

We have had the Honda Series compete in it, Powerboat P1 Superstock and everything from a Phantom 16' to a Fountain with 2000 hp!

This year we look forward to seeing Martin Warren in Double 2 Shirts head up the bigger boats, whilst no doubt the P1 Supersock Honda 150 boats and the BCC2 boats should add to the excitement!

As much as we all would love to see a Royal Yacht Squadron start for the Cowes Torquay Cowes, it isn't possible again this year.

However, you can purchase tickets on the Red Jet Start boat.

The ticket price is £20.00 - You can purchase from here >> LINK

If you have never raced, or did, it is the closest thing to being in the mustering area and running over 7 miles with thousands of hp on a Sunday morning late August in the Solent.

Metamarine Corsa wins Roma Endurance in 1 hour 19 mins 17 secs(135 miles), lets hope we can see this great boat over here at Cowes.

Lets hope Martin has lured them over!!

Dumped 30 ltrs of oil in the bilge then stopped ,suspect a piston melt but wont know till wk end.Its breathing heavy and on 7 i suspect.
the rebuilt one was great ,very happy with that.
So unless a miracle happens wont be joining you which is a real pain concidering the effort i have put in.one lousy o ring probably done three grands worth of damage if its the same as the other engine.
10,yrs not a problem think it got jeolous, well i supose they are 40 yrs old, dont change the fact just about had enough.
I saw you and headed over but got told to slow down and get out of the way by a safety boat.double century looked good.

That's a blimmin shame John, talk to Mike James, he's looking for a helping hand on board for our rally.

Yes, Double Century is a great looking boat, went to Monte too..

Safety Boats Still Needed

I know I have posted on this before, but we can still welcome more safety boat volunteers for Cowes this year.

Not only at Cowes, but we need more boats at the western end of the course, if anyone can spare their boat on Sunday 26th August.
Poole Bay & around Torquay (Mouth of Tor Bay) are areas we would welcome volunteers to cover please.

Kindly contact me at: martin.napier1@talktalk.net if you can assist.

Many thanks to all those who have already kindly volunteered !!!
