Can ping some examples of Marathon Boats that raced at Cowes last year under the old rule i.e. 1 Sea Survival ticket per boat.

It is new in the context of all craft in All Marathon Races [whatever the length race] having to comply.

This is new???

Stabilized Monohull – Definition A planning craft with a single,
central main hull that provides the majority of the
hydrodynamic lift (greater than 90%) when proceeding at
planning speed, coupled with two stabilizing sponsors, placed
on each side of the main hull, that provide stability in roll.

I suspect the ruling has been made to allow something Blade Runner'ish in, possibly for the RB12 ?

I did a concept study one a triamaran a few years ago, single engine, with a centre pod carrying most of the hydrodynamic load at steady state planing speed in smooth water. This was designed a café racer and not an offshore race boat.
Just to illustrate that the pickle fork modified catamaran concept will comply with the rules as stated as is essentially a stabilized monohull. I guess the TRM has less than 90% of the hydrodynamic support from the centre pod, probably more like 40-50% so it would not comply, but similar designs could.

Totally agree, this has to stop before it gets out of hand. one thing is for sure, the Cowes/Monte-Carlo 2013 will only allow "monohulls" as we know them. Tri hulls or any derivitive will NOT be allowed, that's our choice. Any complaints go talk to the UIM.

My guess would be that it is to allow for the blow up tubes that Fabio Buzzi uses on some of his designs.
