Motor Boats Monthly Magazine to close-down

Rumours were circulating 10days ago, re "MBM" magazine, & its future, or lack of one.
I have, as a subscriber, today received word that IPC are to close the magazine, sadly.
MBM, unlike MB&Y, had not been tempted into the 'super-yacht' world, but remained in touch with more reasonable craft & their owners.
They were also able to publicise the classic powerboat world, in a number of reports & articles.
I think the the October issue, due out this month, could be the last one.
RIP MBM

Great shame. I remember going to Guernsey for the Class 1 in '93 (I think) with an MBM organised trip. A really good well organised trip. (Renato Luglio won in Johnny Lambs - I remember that much.)

Agree, shame that just leaves rib magazine, which whilst interesting just isn't as imho as good.

Rumour had it that, in effect, MB&Y will be the "combined" IPC Motor Boat magazine, & that their content will be 'adjusted' to include topics & matters previous included in MBM.
We will wait & see !

I've just received an e-mail from the magazine subscription distributors (Magazines Direct), advising that MBM subscriptions will be transferred to Yachting Monthly !!!
Needless to say, I am not impressed !

I have received my "Last Ever Issue" of MBM.
It seems that existing subs are to be transferred to MB&Y, which at least is more sense than to Yachting Monthly, previously suggested.

Sad to see a magazine that had claimed it had the highest readership going down.
Methinks IPC, or whoever the owners now are, wanted to concentrate possibly falling sales into one title. Trouble is, MB&Y has changed out of all recognition from its earlier formats, & is so much more angled to larger ( & of course more expensive) boats than MBM. While they covered large boats too, they did not forget the small boat users.
Still, Powerboat & RIB is more inclusive than it was as just a RIB mag', & has a good spread of articles now (New issue just out !)

re my last post
instead of normal should that be "poor" ?
don't think there is such a beast as a "normal" boat owner
