Came past Earls Court yesteday about 7.30pm, exhibitors were on their way out by then, past loadsa boats on the M3 too must have had a good plan to clear out.

The Excel 'london motorsport show' was really good too with a lot of suprised faces seeing race boats there, thundercats there too with Sarah D too, loads of interest as most of the public were well into racing of some sorts, bring on the NEC in January.......

Earls Court was like being home, very much like the old times when we were upstairs with the sportsboats .

The Clubby feel was there among those that came and said hello and signed the book and put their comments in, ranging from a polite ' Keep up the good work' to a 'F..k off you Old Git' ! And there was a lot of clever humour in between !

Made some good business contacts and it was good to put faces to Forum names, my thanks to all who made themselves known.

Getting our stuff out tomorrow, and hope to be back next year with something a little more 'sporty'

Quite so Ginge, with regard to the 16 footer, thats why they closely resembled the Avenger. However I modded the original to make it 'mouldable' and put it into production as the Crusader brand at Golden Hill Fort on the Island.

.................but there was also a very successful 15 (3B) and a 20 Crusader.(mostly F2 ski racing) with which L da Costa had no connection.

Anyway Jon, you would only have been Nine or Ten years old at the time and probably the nearest thing to boats would have been toy ducks in your bath !!!
Prob'ly why when you grew up you wanted a YELLOW boat !

Oh how wrong you are Mr Ring! Though I'm thrilled & flattered that you think I'm so young. It must be the way I look after myself.

pics to follow.

FWIW, I have personal experience of both the 16 & 15.

Whilst it hurts to say it , I quite liked the 15 , but the 16 was a dangerous bastud. at least it was with the 150 V6 I had on it. it used to render me black & blue every time out. Of course, that was possibly my poor driving ability.

Will dig some childhood pics out later, and see if I have any pics of the 15. For now though, here's Chaos's fave pic. My 16 accompanied by a young, thrusting, bronzed hunk.

Maybe "peeps" remember the Boat Show is always in January, so they don't expect or look for a November/December show.
I (we) only found out via this site.
This one I recon is better than Excel. Long may it run.

Did anybody notice the fault with the P21?
There is no damage to the rear quarter on the mould, the only thing noticeable was that there was a kink in the aluminum rubbing strake, damaged caused whilst in tranist to the show. The mould is perfect with no repairs. The back quarters naturally flare out, albiet this was enhanced with the damage to the rubbing strake.

Hi Mike

We had a Crusader 16 (and rolled it over) in 1972 and have had a 20 footer since 1987. This must make me one of your most loyal afficionados, albeit not your most profitable.

Now if only you had a 21 footer to sell me......

TD had me interested with his plans for a reworked 20D. What ever happened to that?

I went last Friday, and there seemed to be very few people around. Which is a shame because it was such a good show in its propper home.
I'm not really into big sailboats but it was good to see them with full size masts on, not the 10ft cut down ones scratching the ceiling at Excell.
My son Matt and I met up with Mike and talked over Grahams new 25, and went on loads of boats as no queueing involved. The two of us were knocked out by the Phantom 21 it looks like a new design especially as it was surrounded by Honda FFS, but it was the Phantom that everyone was looking at.

Did anyone see or get pics of the new Eurojet that was to be debuted at the show?
