What boat is R.H.S in littlenige's pics from the gallery? It looks awfully like a boat that is a in a storage compound in littlehampton? It has world champions on the side and i think its red and white from memory? JF may know the boat? Its on the way to west beach in L.A??

I think it's a US1 cougar - but dunno whether it's the 38 or 46. There was a (IMHO) beautiful looking 46 with twin BPM V12's at cowes this year, all done in silver metallic. On the one hand a bit dated, but on the other, very very cool, and somewhat reminiscent of "Wally" boats.

If you mean this one, then yes, it's a Cougar US1-46. but he had a Tigershark 32' before this, also called RHS (Reg Haynes & son) which he raced in class II.

And yes, there is one hibernating in LA somewhere, belonged to the ex owner of 'Mr Noisy' for a while, also a 46, 'Pussy' originaly had triple 575 Mercruisers on #4's. recently sold for about 3k.

It wasn't till just now, when I searched through 'littlenige's gallery to find RHS, that I realised just how many excellent photos he'd uploaded/shared with us, quite superb!

Bravo Littlenige, keep em coming!

Anyone who hasn't looked, should!

Hey scotty what this 80 mph, you ain't that quick yet, and if your going to do it proper you want a canopy, don't get wet so quick.
That Cougar is a 38' US-1, been there years, beeb trying to buy it at the right price, it's a mess play version not race ,interior f@@@ed cockpit f@@@ed the engines are still in it but no drives. From what I know Osbornes tied up with Cougar to make a fast patrol boat, it,s the grey 1 on the river not sure if they used the 38' or the 46' that was in the yard up till about 11/2 yrs ago. That was completely stripped and I think it got sold to either Germany or Belgium. Anyway been on board it a couple of times to check it out and all I can say is the twin petrol tanks age KIN KIN BIG. Make running XR2s and 2.5s economical.

Belongs to Henry Hector, and it's rotten as a pear. A mate of mine looked at it a couple of weeks ago and fell through the cockpit floor!

Did 'your mate' have any contact with Henry?

I used to live in Sussex and regularly saw that Cougar on the quayside at the Cunningham yard - are the Cunningham Brothers still there? Still in business? And what of the bloke who used to work in the Littlehampton Marina who bought the old Magnum hull that was ´Ultimatum´? Is that hull still floating about there somewhere?

The Cunningham brothers no longer trade 'together', or from that yard by the bridge. I think Ian went to live in Spain or summat, and John now has a workshop in-land of LA, and is still turning out excellent work.

Phil Sired, who owned the US1-46 while it sat at Cunninghams, wanted to convert it to an 'economical' sports cruiser, but I think he realised in the end, that he'd have to remove the word *sports* from it's description if he wanted to keep the word *economical*.

I thought 'Ultimatum' went overseas somewhere, I was always surprised that Tony Dowley sold it, as he clearly didn't need the money. it's only crack at racing in recent years, was I think, Gosport of '96, when he had a mechanical failure of some sort.

'Pussy', the 46 Cougar, was sold to a pal of Alan Goodwin (HIM) and I don't know what happened to it after that.

Wasn't he the fella who 'did a few quid' trying to rescue Cougar from Exstinction?

I believe that 46 sank on a mooring somewhere, and Mr Hamilton ended up with the 'freshened up' () motors from it, to put into the ill-fated 'Dry Martini' project.
