27 litres

Apparently DVLA keep thinking the 27 litres on the registration doc is a misprint and it should be 2.7 litres.

Reminds me of a car called the beast that was out many moons ago. Rolls royce based Ford Capri lookalike with a Merlin engine. Rolls Royce were going nuts because he had a Rolls radiator grille with a spirit of ecstasy - he reckoned it was fair enough as it had a Rolls engine in it!

I think it was built by a guy called John Dodd. I saw him do a demonstration run at Santa Pod many moons ago. Very dissapointing.

He was famously taken to court by Rolls.

The judge said he thought he had a 'Cavalier attitude', so he turned up at court the following day on a white horse! made it on telly of course! I suspect he tipped off the press.

What has happened to all those characters?

I believe he's dead now, and his son continues to run the car on occasion, including a top gear appearence a while back, on which they showed the news footage of his father turning up to court on the steed, very cool.

They worked fine on MTBs and rescue boats during the war. Also used in unlimited hydroplane racing.

Racing ones have been known to give well over 2,000hp.
