Don't always need an engine!

We decided to go and explore the Shingles Bank - North of the Needles - yesterday. A good kayak trip over from Totland Bay on the Isle of Wight.

Can never remember the bank being so large / exposed. Apart from the obvious bank above HW showing - at low water the whole expanse covers about 1 1/2km - maybe more.

Could be a great meeting place for a BBQ's this summer if it is still around....

That looks like a brilliant trip Adam! How far away is it?

Guernsey has some epic kayaking available! We did a good trip at the end of last summer which covered some amazing coastline. Would love to kayak Guernsey to Jersey but its probably too far!

Here are a couple of snaps from the last trip. How many kayaks can you fit on 1 van!?

I bet Guernsey would be excellent. Some friends of ours have sea kayaks and amazing the distances they cover - especially with timing the tides correctly - which must be a big factor in the Channel Islands I guess.

Our trip was a total of 5 miles.

The sand banks are amazing at the moment - there was even a coaster aground - but that was much further out and visability was not good.
