speaking of quick cars, my mates just got his saxo back after it had a rebuild,
he had it mapped on friday and run it down the pod on sat, 13.8 second quarter mile, aint bad for a 1.6 16v nateraly asperated! recons he will be able to get that down to 13.5 with abit more practice!

This one is not mine but will look exactly the same when finished.
Off to the paint shop today for a bare metal re-spray which will be covered by a 5 year guarantee
This will be running a 410bhp Cosworth turbo engine
Top spec of every thing else.
Can't wait to get it finished.
Sorry Jon bit off subject for Boatmad

Roger Clark's Rally weapon of choice back in the day, a 410hp engine would give it more than twice the power it raced with in them days, would make it an interesting hill climb car

This one has been around for a few years.......now that's what I'm talking about no sniffling 1. something LTR hear with front wheel drive
Even a Veyron can only just break the late 9's in the 1/4 this is way beyond that in the 8's and for a fraction of the cash

Dunno about that fast but here my current drain of cash 4.5ltr V8 928 manual (which I'm told is pretty much the next step from rocking horse sh1t). Luckily enough already had the bare metal respray before I got it so the exterior of the car is pretty much mint, I had receipts totally in excess of 10k that came with this car, in never ceases to amaze me how much people will spend with nil chance of ever recouping this. Inside crap at the mo, but have had it running this week with its replacement engine, so next step is the electrics.

Cyco sounds good mate. I have had two cosworths both proper wheel drive (from the rear) 330bhp and 280bhp. so much fun and easy to work on unlike modern cars. are you going 8 injector or sticking with 4 seimens black with that power. also a T35 with .63 exhaust housing may start to run out of puff above the 400bhp mark. get the wallet out and go GT30
the pics were taken at the Isle of Wight regional RS day

Tris the engine is mapped for greys at the mo and made the 410bhp.
I have thought about the GT35 should give less lag?
Do you know what money they are going for?
I ran a 8 injector set-up on my last cosworth powered van.

Very nice immaculate car and what a great spec it is but surely 410hp is already much much more than it's simple but effective live rear axle was ever intended to transmit to the tarmac and any increase in power would be wasted as it's 0-60 would not alter and indeed the 1/4 may only yield a 100th second improvement, I would of thought from around 300hp upwards acceleration would hardly benefit the extra expense

The rear end is six linked with a Watts set up so better than original but still a live axle.
I am planning to run 9-10" rear wheels to help get the power down.
Building the car for the odd bit of fast road use, but mostly for the track.
That why I bought the vauxhall XE running 230bhp to start with, it would have just cost to much money getting the correct parts to fit it, I.e bell housing, gearbox (straight cut), exhaust with equal length primarys, sump, clutch etc mounted up past £2000 once I had bought the engine.
So decided to go for the YB instead which I bought at this spec.
The Axle was Just over £2000 to have built (even with me suplying the watts cover and the CWP.

You certainly have invested a great deal of thought and time sounds like you have the options covered, it will make a fantastic motor sport sprint/hill climb car that's for sure and bowl people over at shows when they see the power under the hood
