Flame out....

As a few of you know, a pal of mine lives in Ft Lauderdale. He used to race over here and moved out to FLA in 2001.

Well, Ian (Cutler) has now taken up flying and has a great wee 'Experimental' plane of his own, that is, like a microlight is here, but with a proper engine.

Anyways, his mate recently bought some eastern European fighter trainer for a bit of fun. Seems he got his fun as it 'flamed out' a few days ago at 1200 feet, resulting in an unplanned landing on the highway!

Ians' wee plane: 17' wing span, all metal, 3.3 litre flat six motor, runs just shy of 200 mph in level flight. had a go in it in Feb, great fun.

And, an unplanned landing:

Send a message via Skype™ to ciao!
Presumably the 45 mph speed limit was broken on "landing"?

Mate of mine did the same in SA... unfortunately it killed him when he had a Pilot "imposed" on him at a display and he took the observers seat..right into the ground. Johnny "Jet" Hattingh.. R.I.P.

Having spent a few days with Ian and Family last month, it was sad to hear that his mate has died in a flying accident!
