All of the above appear to show genuine enthusiasm & support for the sport. All have oppinions, criticisms and views. (names taken from relevant forums)
However none seem (correct me if I'm wrong) to turn up with their boats for basic races. You should its a laugh. Those who do not wish to support the sport or the hard working clubs, should have respect for those who do. Keep your negative opinions to yourself unless you are going to get up off your backside, turn your computer off, get in your fast boat that your obviously proud off, blast around the water with others and above all have loads of fun with other like minded people. If you don't like it rough you can allways pull out. I found that all other race crews risking their boats & lives will respect your decision whatever it is.The people not risking anything other than a touch of sunburn, sandy feet or RSI should show respect and keep their opinions to them selves.

Basics are for people with fast boats to have some compeditive fun. The result is not really that important. Showing & earning respect is the real prize.

I was taking my wife to Portugal that weekend, however people like Gav & MG have my respect and deserve my support.

See you in Torquay.

Cheers Paul

Project is so far to the right on the wall planner it ain't funny.
I'd love to have a full season & support all the races but I cant afford the time working hours are way to high, then couple that to a Friday leave home & race Sat & Sun. I'd be well on the way to a nervous breakdown

In your list of potential competitors there are a number of people who raced for many years and risked a great deal more than "a touch of sunburn". They may still have fast boats but it is their decision if racing is no longer for them, not yours.

You have also mentioned the "hard working clubs". What have you done for them? Have you volunteered to help at races where you are not competing?
As a former organiser I know all too well about people "supporting the club" but when push comes to shove it's the same loyal core group that enables the event to go ahead. Could you imagine what would happen if Chris and Laura (and previously Geoff for many years) decided not to show - and if you don't know who they are, perhaps you should.

Just re-read this. Has to be one of the most condescending statements I have seen on this web site.

No I haven't. I copied the thread over to torkin bollix, edited the title and removed innapropriate posts from each.

With hindsight, I could have just used the "Split Thread" option. DOH!
