If I recall that was the morning we woke up looked out the window, was blowing a hoolie and piddling with rain and the UKOBA allocated 6AM launch time felt very unattractive so went back to bed, got up about 10:30 had a lovley Full English and turned up about Midday. What a lovely race to watch with a nice beer in hand or was it 85?

Holy CRAP!!!! Sherlock Holmes that was quick, thought i would get loads a slaggin off for saying.....how good it was people died, but you new they were only actors. You did get one thing wrong though. Tony was right about the name, Duffy was my partner in crime, who has since gone on to gun running, plane stealing and all sorts of other stuff, that is of course if I belive what is said about Captin Duffy, coming to your holiday jet soon

Having a big breakfast and not racing I think was a great idea. We went out the marina to see what the conditions were like an hour before the race and could not get on the plane, let alone race, so the race going ahead was a bit of a shock, winning was even more of a shock! The boat was worst for wear with most of the interior like seat mounts all bust battery smashed to bits and it ripped a chunk out the bottom as it broke loose, engine saddle broken etc..... was not really worth the win it cost loads to put it all back together... But it was a Ring and there made of stern stuff

I am pretty sure Brighton in 85 was cancelled. I remember taking a girlfriend out for a spin on the Saturday, it was blowing a 6 then.
Anyway I managed to get in the way of a huge wave, I blew the females helmet right off!
God was I concerned.
The helmet had just cost me a fortune.

Nope Miles was navigating for The Flying Farmer Peter Ash in 82 and 83 They won the 3C National in 83, Bloomers and Neil Holmes won in 82.

In 82 Ed navigated in the very first P25 London and Manchester.

Miles and Ed got together in the ex Allenby cat in 3D Pussy Galore

You may well be right, as I didnt follow the Round Britain I have no memories of it.
I have a customer who was working for Ted Toleman at the time and he tells me some hair raising stories!
As an aside he spoke to Ted recently he is looking to put an A1 motor racing team together. Mike Toleman is now a long distance lorry driver.

Yep the commentary confirms it!

Wonder if that crane driver woke to find a horses head in his bed the next day?
