Got stopped by plod yesterday on the way back from MOT.
(Vehicle on SORN, went for booked MOT, bought tax on the way back, on my way back home from post office & MOT). Not a moron for stopping me - the tax disc displayed was out of date, so fair dos. Just a moron for the braindead conversation that followed...
Plod: You know your vehicle isn't taxed sir
Me: Yes it is officer, I've just MOT'd it and have just bought the tax. Am on my way home. I only didn't put it in the current tax holder because I've got a new one here I want to use (show's new holder & disc)
Plod: Well, is it insured?
Me: Of course it is officer, I've just bought tax for it. But I have the insurance document here - would you like to take a look?
Plod: Well is MOT'd?
Me: Err, yes officer, because I've just bought tax for it which means it has both insurance & MOT. Would you like to see the MOT certificate - here it is.
Plod: Errr, Oh yes,of course. Well, I pay tax just like everyone else you know.
So I'm not quite sure where the "I pay my taxes too you know" rant came from, and brain clearly failed to engage when asking if it was MOT'd and Insured bearing in mind the new tax disc which he'd inspected showed that day's date. (And he didn't check the MOT or insurance documents either)
