I play drums yeah, but the kind of music I play is a very underground genre, I could be in the biggest band of our kind and you still wouldn't have heard of us! We wouldn't get played on primetime TV and I wouldn't want to be! There are people far more deserving of fame and recognition than someone who's face fits in Simon Cowell's grand plan. What happened to Shane Ward? Will Young? Hardly churning out album after album of quality music are they? X Factor winners get Christmas number one, make Cowell and his cronies millions, then are largely forgotten about because the next 'big thing' comes along

SC might be an arse but he knows what will sell and what wont. Perhaps if some of our very talented musicians came out of the underground scene they might get noticed.

If you play shit music, it doesn't matter how skillfully you perform it - it's still shit.

I never said cowell was an arse, he's a genius and a multiple multiple millionaire. What's shit music and what's good music is all a matter of opinion, my main gripe is that people's opinions are far too easily influenced by what's popular and cool at a particular time. I'm not in any way claiming to be someone that dererves to make a living or fame from my music, but if it happened of course I wouldn't say no!! I'd love to spend life on the road with my band as they're my best mates, but that's never going to happen. I'll stick to writing and performing music I enjoy as a hobby, and work to pay for my toys.

As a last point, would Leona Lewis be as popular as she is today if she went about things the 'traditional' way? Playing small gigs, work your way up, get noticed, signed to a small label, produce her own album with help from them, promote that album by touring... It could be exactly the same album with the same songs as the one she released after her X factor win, but I'd be willing to bet everything I own that she wouldn't be the global star she is now...

I know, I did!

You need to learn to accept the things that you cannot change.

Keep playing and enjoy what you do, who know's? Your time may or may not come.

Best of luck.

She's an exception that's enjoyed more sustained success. It won't last though

I'll just stick to what I like, whether it's popular or not

No there isnt, they are all the same family, breed like mice originally from Jersey. They are my late Grandmothers Family. Just been tracing them for my family tree.

I deliver to an old man called Captain Allez, and I went to school with a Sean who would be 27 now, still see him around a fair bit. What I meant was there's more than one Allez household, probably are all descendents of one family though, it's the same thing with my family.

Odd tangent!

Bored with the X Factor thing now.

I have been looking into residency in the channel islands but unfortunately my Grandmother was born in England after her father moved here as a young man. He used to work on the Steam Packet Ships.

There's a possibility he ran into one of my ancestors then, he was a bit of a pirate apparently and took a shining to some of the old merchant ships!

My mum has traced her side back up to around 9 generations I think, my dad's great grandfather was French. Most of the true 'Guernsey' families are of French origin unfortunately

As for the residency thing, just come over, find a slapper in one of the meat market nighclubs, marry her, and make sure you bring the Velocity over

Next auditions why not pop over and give it a shot?Nowt to lose but your ferry fair, winging on here aint goin to get your career kick started,if your band are seasoned campaigners like you say they are,you should walk the auditions, the lad with the afro is a seasoned campaigner like you,he is now having his shot and could possibly win it.Even if you dont win it your bookin fees will rocket just for being an X factor finalist, remember the CHEEKY GIRLS,bag of dogs dollop, well on their way to being millionaires now and shaggin my local M.P.Lempit Opik. They could have had me Whats your band called? 3500 boatmadders on here will vote for you am sure if you get thro,J.F. could make it compulsory GO FOR IT.

They were all involved in "Privateering" at one time, the wealth of the islands was the result of a few "swift boardings" here and there.

My Mum's family were well known Farmers/Privateers from the West country, who moved to Hayling Island until the great fire of Hayling. Then they moved up to Bromley and got all respectable, professional and wealthy, God knows what happened to the money and property cos it didnt find its way down to us!

I think people are getting the wrong end of the stick here, I have absolutely no desire to become a household name, I like my job, have a great life here and doing my band in my spare time is all part of that. I've got better things to buy ferry fares for! I was only putting across my opinion, not whinging that I'm not getting famous, and suggesting that if it annoys you then the option is always there to turn it off
