2010 season.

Hi, new to boatmad.
looking to be involved with the scene next season as my son and daughter are both keen to start racing at the british nationals. After watching the world championships, and a few early races, the kids haven't stopped wanting to go out and go fast!
Looking for a outboard ski race boat with or what can be used with 300hp?
Any recommendations on new or 2nd hand?
Thanks, Steve

From the people I had spoken to in Belgium in July, my daughter would be a bambino and my son in the support race. It is still early days, I would like to still keep them involved with the tournament scene but they are so keen on racing.
I also have a close friend who did a few races in the 80's, if we go through with the racing im sure he will get involved with the main race.

Thanks for the welcomes!

Steve.

Hi, Just finished first season in ski racing with a f3(150hp) was astruggle once up to speed the newer boats provide alot more cover, if i was you i would go for something like kraken in one of the comments above its on ebay at the moment with out an engine for 10k i would suggest going for a cyclone 21 with either an evinrude 250 HO or a 300xs. hope to be competeing against you son next year.

From what i understood at the forum, Tim Mayers has already booked everything, carpark, etc for that weekend and can't/ won't be able to change it... unfortunately this looks like it will mean there wont be a great turnout if there are quite a few GB teams heading down to spain for the Euros.

Seems a shame, as i can understand how much effort Tim may have gone to in order to organise the event, but it may be pointless holding it if only a handful of teams will be present

(obviously only my thoughts, i dont want to take anything away from tim, i know he works very hard to put on many events down in the west country, but i know pretty much for sure that we are going to the Euros and theres no way of making it back to torquay, let alone being in a fit state to ski a national after a week of racing)

If we go to Cadiz then no Torquay

Its all provisional, although the early dates are pretty much cast, its really only a shuffle about to accomodate European dates where we can, but the European Championships will take precedence on dates, and the initial reports are very favourable for this venue despite the distance.
So sadly Torquay very likely would be a casualty of that calender despite all the hard work done by Tim & Derek.
The race series would remain at 8 as Hunstanton are hosting a trial for the Saturday Sunday race proposal.
Hope this clears up any confusion but it will all be resolved early 2010 so dont book any tickets yet !!!!
Barry
