Still under review for F3, brought up at the forum, not every one can afford a clean burn engine, how are we going to get people into our sport if they have got to buy a new opti etc, the rule was (prior to the forum) up to 150 Hp, no mention of DFI engines etc, have to see what they come up with !!!!!!!!!!!

Will talk to Derek tomorrow should be able to let you know tomorrow, Got a chap in our club that was looking to run a P18 or 20 with a 98 150 Merc on it, hopefully they will see sense, maybe ok for Euro champs to run only clean burn engines, but not in our national series.

So are you saying that XR2's, 150 Opti's, 150 Rude's & 150 4 stroke's are all OK to run in F3? 2.5ltr & 2.0ltr same class !!!
Is there no limit on "cc" just "hp"?
The Rude E-Tec weight is only 419lbs, the Merc 4 stroke is 510lbs!
Whats the full engine rules for F3?
Do you not have the rule that any engine used must be available for "Joe Public" to purchase ?

You can't run a XR2 in F3, they are 200 hp, any standard 150 hp (out of the box) engine regardless of cc

As I understood it, XR2's were rated at 150!
A bit of messing got 200!
I maybe a bit cock-eyed here ,,,,, but !!!!!!

First Merc XR2 Black Max 150 manufactured about 85 to 87 are ok as they produced 150 HP. XR2 sport, offshore mid etc about 190 HP, serial numbers will be checked as to engine compliance, so no old black max 175's with 150 covers etc.

AS STATED ANY 150 HP ENGINE WILL RUN IN F3,ITS UP TO THE COMPETITORS IF THEY WANT AN OMC RUDE OR JONNY OR A 4-STOKE HONDA OR A 15 YEAR OLD MERC THATS UP TO THEM BUT ALL 150HP RATED ENGINES NO MATTER THERE CC WILL RUN,NO NEW RACE XR2`S BUT ANY WINNER BY A LONG WAY WILL BE LOOKED AT VERY CLOSLEY.

So it looks like it will be a Clean Burn fleet then!
Can't see a 20yr old Merc holding up against the modern stuff for a whole season.
