flat as a witches ***, great racing no injuries. Karl Brooks was flying, 1st, Kim second, Dave sewell 1st F2 Steve Benny 2nd, not sure about f3, (except simon dowling 4th as I was observing) Support, excellent from juniors Duphins and bambios well done all. Great scrap between Glen Manchett and Rod Hawkins, Glen came out on top, well done Glen. I came third (well only three of us in seniors!).
Thanks to Jason and all the team at Hunstanton

But yes, was Flat but a good days racing in my opinion. Organisged and a handy towel for the winners! Good weather too!
All skiers did well and it was good to see the speeds the support race was doing! Esp the younger ones!

Got to agree with dazza, ski racing appears to be dead on its feet.
A handfull of races at the same venues with fewer competiors
In the late 80's/early 90's a GL&SE regional race would attract more competitors than a national can today and i have been to nationals (Varne for example) which would attract almost 50 boats.
Very sad indeed
Hopefully for the sake of this sport somebody will give it a good kick up the arse

all steamed up welcome to Boatmad.com and thanks for your reply, you sound like you know what you are talking about, unlike some on here i could mention, it seams to me if you are starting out in water ski racing you need to pick a fomula that has no other racers in it, then you win ever time!!! like the womens race! or F1, as all steamed up said, 10-15 years ago there were at least 50-60 boats per race meeting, i remember the all region races at Scotland or Chasewater as having at least 40 boats!
Bring back the good old days before this dying sport dies forever!!!

So whats the magic quick fix then guys? If you talk to anyone involved in boating it's on it's arse across the board. The good old days were when people had plenty of spare foldin around them. There aint many who could honestly say they have now! I spose we can blame the government and the Spearmint Rhino for that.(Not in my case of course)

Well i retired from ski racing about 3 maybe 4 years ago and it wasnt to do with money, what i will say is that the BWSF dont make it easy for people to compete in water ski racing, i know some1 who went to a race this year and the entry fee was £150.00!!! he done just 1 race so why the hell should he pay so much! i was told its to do with not paying up front before the season starts! so if you want to race and only want to do 1 race then be perpared to pay £150.00 for 1 race, there should be more open races throughout the year to get more people interested in racing! as for me, i would go back into the sport tomorrow if the right offer came up!!!

Very true, the BWSF killed club racing with all the rules and regulations, not to mention the fees, but then somebody has to pay for all the hangers on, sorry i meant to say officials

Thats not the case, you can do 2 local races for £50 each race, after that its £ 150 - 00 per race, and thats only £50 each, most people will spend that down the pub watching 22 people kick a bag of wind around, the entry fee and the way it's done, make it easier for clubs to hold races as monies are allocated at the start of the season, instead of clubs only having a few entries two days before a race, cause people can't be arsed to send off there entry forms.
it also seems that the sport has somehow skipped a generation as there are not many people that followed on the family sport and puchased a boat to race when there old man retired.

There was 18 boats at the last Hunstanton Club Race so I have been informed. There are a few new comers taking to the water with their new Formula Three boats. Maybe this is a better sign?
I am keeping out of the cost matters as I havent been round long enough to compliment or neither do I fully understand what the money goes towards. But yes in my opinion it is quite steep in terms of entry fees and personally I find it hard to stump up with the money, but love the sport so I sacrafice my nights at the spearmint Rhino (Loved that one Danger').
Anyways, it will be a shame to loose such a great sport.

Not me, my Dad used to race from Weston in a R16 I`d love to have a go, by no means the quickest but if anyone fancies doing a bit of practice in the plymouth area I`d love to tow (you can teach me what I need to do!!!!!!), only in a basic as I think for F3 you have to have a standard engine mid box etc ????
Rod PM me what you want for the prop, not tried it myself yet (been watching 22 kick a bag of wind in germany but a friend may if I dont.
