Season over before it starts
My F2 ski race season is unfortunately over for most of this season before it even got started.
Last week whilst skiing my back foot came out of it's binding as I was wiping out, as the ski dug into the water it twisted around resulting in a severed achilles tendon and a fractured Talus (part of the ankle socket).
It was so painfull when it happened that I almost , It was very luckly that there was a knife on board the boat which allowed the binding to be cut off.
So after month's of trianing 6 days a week I am now out for 10 weeks which means I will miss most of the UK nationals.
Surgery on Wednesday next week, then sat on my arse for a long time.
Not a happy chappy right now.
Cyco

Sorry to hear that Cye.
What a sh1t! You must be 100% gutted after putting all the hard work in at the front end to have that happen. What sort of speed were you sking at the time and was it in Weston? Hopefully still see you around and by the way thanks for the tip on the nail varnish!!

Sorry to hear that mate.
I had a fall in July and just got the clear yesterday from the specialists, so can appreciate the annoyance.
Good Luck with it all.

Gaz cheers mate, thats only the half of it!!!
Had a very good team behind me as well this year with the use of 5 boats!!!
4 of which are F1
As I said before been training so hard since last October so really hacked off now.
Still gym training at present and even managed a swim on Friday (taped the ankle up so it could not move) I have a removable cast until the op.
Off work at the moment as well.
Plus just got the Mk1 escort back from the paint shop and have all the parts new to build the car but can't do a bloody thing

My mate tells me the price these mexs and RS 2000 are doing crazy money.
My first Rs a 1976 std but i still remember the reg of that old motor RVT 20R i loved that one.
My last one was A signal yellow one (W reg) Custom with black fishnets was rare as the yellow ones all had the chocolate trim,
I spent all my wages on this one for months,
7" Revolution wheels
Bilstiens
roller top mounts
single leaf springs, lowered not using the usual lowering blocks.
Quick rack
3.5 and a 3.9 Slipper
Janspeed RHS System
45 side drafts
2.1 powermax pistons
steel rods
steel crank
Pipermagnun 300 cam with cam vernier.
Stage 3 head
5 speed conversion
Those where the days, anyway starting to sound like Tim here
You have got to ask yourself with all the modern cars which drive great would you have a old RS again.
yes every time

Cyco,
did the same last may, I think 10 weeks may be a bit optimistic. Good Luck as my leg was in plaster for 12 Weeks following surgery. And by ---- did it hurt!!!

I thought the same about the E30 M3, having had one in 91, I bought another 2 years ago, superb car to drive, but when compared to a modern car you realise how things have moved on.

I've also had a few of those, and they really were great fun. Had a real job selling the second one in 93, a pal wanted to buy it from me, but was quoted £7k to insure it!
A Mk 1 Lotus Cortina sold recently for £70+k, probably helped by having history, Jim Clarke etc as it's list of drivers/owners.
The guy opposite Gav's old workshop was an interesting bloke to chat too. He's making a good living building Mk 1 Escorts for the Irish Rallying guys. Let me have a look round his workshop, where he had numerous BDA's and Twin Cam motors ready for cars he was building. Had a 6 foot high pile of 1/4 bumpers that he'd had commisioned as they were no longer available from Ford.
