Mmmmm ,look at the shape of the engine well in the boat on e bay - it's circular -exactly the same as the 19foot Avenger I am currently restoring .the crusader seems to have a square well.

The picture of Avenger you posted is highly modified deck and rather ugly too !

If you drop me your e mail I will send you a couple of photos of my 19 Avenger could you possibly post them up for me ?

Cornering completely up on its side was an art form- right up to when you get it wrong then it hurts.

Be great to see her running again.

Quicksilver

Nice to see Quicksilver still alive and kicking.!!

Fist boat I ever raced against (GPA class 5 – 1981 season) fortunately for us – the 200 ish Merc on Quicksilver kept breaking down as we were about 15 MPH off the pace with the 175 on our Cougar cat that year.

If I remember rightly both boats first raced against each other in 1972 Round the Island (Cowes IOW)
Quicksilver as JPS Easy Rider and Bosscat with a BMW inboard (prior to being fitted with a Gas Turbine as Black and White Whisky) Bosscat was later sold to Barry Clayton in 1988 with a new 200 Mariner fitted and 3 “tandem” seats. I don’t know what became of the boat after that.

I was in Herm with Tony at the White House the other week
He gave me the full story re Jersey and the collar bone sticking out the wet suit.
I never realised it was you driving when the boat ejected you and An Other in front of the old Royal hotel !
You've got to post that picture !

Cor what a memory Guy.
Graham Priaulx would have been racing Easy Rider back then with an olld Tower of Power Merc on it.he told me the story of him and hid cousin leading the twin rigs ramping the boat from wave to wave.
What happened then GP,where did you finish
We didn't ,we stuffed the boat and turned it over, just judged the wave wrong on one of the landings !

I will dig the pic out for you Simon, I remember having a boat hook shoved down my racing jacket, being hauled on to the deck of a Cleopatra and given a can of Grolsch. When I phoned Tony to tell him what happened the first thing he said was "did anyone get any good pictures"

You tell the young uns nowadays and they dont believe you. (monty python for all those born after miami vice)

Easy Rider

That's her, underneath the silver paint is the original red gelcoat . She was in a little bit of a state needing a nut and bolt restoration, together with a new transom and stringers .so much history in this boat,Dick Ridout says that Priaulx was his nemesis,he had an identical 19 Avenger but could never quite match him,Easy Rider was always immaculate .
That photo appears to have 135red band Merc although she finished off her days in red with a 150 straight six Merc.
Dave de la Mare then brought her put a metal flake diver spray job on,200 V6 and renamed her Quicksilver
With Tony at the helm she won a rough round the island (Guernsey)race.
