Close!
It was a new design in GRP,but Embassy Sponsorship ran dry and that was that.I`m not sure we could ever have got it light enough with the structural problems the hull threw up.It was to be mercruiser powered for TBS.
I`ll post another monster shortly that will make this look like chicken feed,
and you thought 1800hp in Unoembassy was powerful.Bring on a 30,000hp RB-211 Jumbo Jet Engine.

No Graham this beats yours!
1988 - Corbell/Diridoni Power Marine 49 '(50'officially) powered by three Isotta Fraschini turbo-diesel -project Corbelli.
To balance the weight was put water in a locker in the bow during the exit in the sea!
At least the Shead Design stopped at scale model!

Should I have a photo where we see while Diridoni thrown into the locker on the nose the water with a bucket and I looked for but I could not find it.
About the record for the Atlantic it was the apotheosis of wasted effort.
And guilt of all is an eye-surgeon in Miami!

I consider this a monster because of it's physical size/number of engines - but I do not know if it was at all successful - gents?

A flash back for the monster posted by Nigel.
Originally "Robur" had to have seven Mercury, three of each sponson and one in the middle of the wing!
Then obviously was understood that the output of the wing must be free from all rubbish because they can operate properly.
If Jacques Mezzanotti had some historical memory of offshore negative experience he would remember the negative experience of Ron Jones on Petroni's Navalcat .
Mezzanotti well as designing (Roland Garde) his cat Aluminum (35') also designed the transmission of the six propellers getting a hybrid surface drive.
In 1988 "Robur" started only at Montecarlo and didn't finish because engine failure.
The following year did not go better with two retirements in the first two races of the season St. Tropez and Nice.

One 'Spooky' ironically really existed in the 1967 season in the U.S. with the co-driver of Bill Cooper, Jenkins, who was over the stern. It seems that this was a ploy to disrupt the minimum length of the boat to the existing regulation that year. Another monster but a little bit effective.

I've seen exactly the same pic in a German magazine and the text said that this 11,60m craft was in the building process at Italcraft for Francesco Cosentino, built in aluminum, powered by MerCruiser

Rumors in Viareggio docks instead they said that was to be a project to return to competition of Balestrieri.
I remember at that time to review the number # 4 on a offshore boat, even if only in a project, was very impressive to me.
Shead at that time had its Italian base in Viareggio at the shipyard Firebird where he was continuing the project of Cobra boats derived from Planatec. Cosentino...Balestrieri.... maybe there was something.

Not exactly a 'Monster' but it was the first "The Cigarette".
I had the privilege of spending one afternoon on board when she was in Oyster Bay (NY) harbour in the early eighties.

Not a monster as such, but something from the drawing boards of Shead Design, built in wood for a certain D.Aronow esq.
Have also attached another diatribe for the Marco scrapbook of Aronow facts and fiqures.
