More Beauties

A certain gent in a rubber rig of the day would look an absolute treat in the Dynacraft on page 2,on the other hand he may look a complete prat.

I was actually refering to the 'winged abortions'.

The Ring Ranger is of course the finest craft on the water, and I would dearly love to be able to own one. So a completely different ball game to the other examples in the pics.

Yes, that's where I rigged it from new. It was there from May '99 to June 2000 being fitted out & rigged, then it went to get wet.

It was in this temporary tent...

Na, I did with Maelstrom (ex Team Extreme 26) but the 28 wasn't gonna be easy to launch with the trailer I had, so it was straight into the briney at Sarfampton, via crane

It was stored there over the winter in it's first few years, you may have seen it then. It only got the graphics on it a day or so before it left for southampton in 2000, so was probably after that, during winter storage.

Dont remember seeing a Cougar Cat there though.

Mr Fuller ,

I award you a packet of choclate biscuits to help you on your way, you are far too kind and generous with your gushing respect of the renowned Ranger 25!

What a great well written article about a great race!
With a few words of wisdom that still apply -
... and some never learn -
the opening photo description about the steering compass position - a lot of Ribs are still being made at huge expense with a totally useless compass in the middle of the dash (e.g. Revenger Ribs).
And I am sure there are still many self-tappers ("It's quicker and a lot cheaper") instead of bolts emerging from a few boat 'builders'.

Bendy Hendicott who ended up as N. Fletcher's right hand man did well with 35% less hp. and it must of been one of 3rd place Dick Read's first races he ended up as WESTCRAFT; racing 'Old Man's' previous boat FOAM FLYER.

Just for the record, Foam Flyer has recently been purchased (once again) and is now in Brighton facing a total re-build. The new owner is a very brave man indeed taking on that project and I do hope that he succeeds because it is a very pretty boat and it would be fantastic to see it running once again.

New project Jon, new project. You know from RB08 that I do my best work in the early hours, then on the first T at 7am, do a full round and then snooze for the rest of the day with a tinny or two.
