Outboards for revenger 25

Has anyone out there ever seen or put outboards on to a Revenger 25. My boat from 1982 originally had twin inboards and the holes are still in the transom. It has been suggested to me that she would run well with outboards. Anythoughts on this? Cheers

If you check with Mike Sloggett of Revenger I think he will tell you that there was one built in the mid 1980's fitted with twin 150hp Merc outboards and very fast it was too. Also There was one that raced in the Round Britain 1984 race crewed and owned by the Earl of Egg and that was very fast as well. On reflection I think that was the flat top version of the 25, same hull though. I think it can be seen on the Round Britain 1984 race film here on Boatmad.

Thanks Longbow, I'm tapping into the deep knowledge of Mike LLoyd too. It hwas he that suggested converting to outboards. I'll check the RB84 film. Thanks.

I think you mean the "Isle of Eigg Ferry" driven by Keith Schellenberg.

Outboard Revenger

The prototype revenger was `The Mit`for Mike Sloggett built by Gordon Wright.It had 2 x 175hp Mercs.It later went on to be Schellenberg`s `Isle of Eigg Ferry` with 2 x 200hp mercs.
`The Mit didn`t do many races. One of the few was the Round the Island race where it came 4th OA (58.3 mph).Aphrodisiac the phantom came 3rd at 58.4 mph, with Pancho the fletcher 2nd at 58.7 mph.Aquaglide the cougar cat won at 61.0 mph.Light conditions.
Schellenberg retired a lot in the RB84.
For reference,a cabin revenger `Disprin the Fast One` averaged 57.8mph with a single mercruiser 370hp,in the 84 CTC (light conditions)
Also in 1991 a cabin revenger called `Renegade` I think had 2 x 250 hp Johnsons, and before that maybe Evinrudes.

Was 'Renegade' not the 25SC with twin OMC stern drives? owned by a doctor?

And originally called 'Plant & Tools' as raced by Bob Humphries?

Renegade

Quite correct Ben,then it went to Dr.A.Hudson and was credited as having 2 Johnsons, then I have it down as Pete Berrow`s boat with a single mercruiser.
When Bob Humphreys had it,it was 2 X OMC,not Evinrudes.
Seems a right old mixture if above is correct.

Several of us were racing the Revenger SC in 1984. Colin Stewart in "Disprin" was un-beatable in Sports Cruiser B (as I was in Sports Cruiser A!). My brother navigated for him that year and told me several times with great glee that they were often touching 75 (on the speedo) during the racing. Having said that my brother was prone to exaggeration at times but "Disprin" was bleeding fast in its day. Lady Arran was continuously complaining that Stewart was cheating as he had a racing o/h cam fitted but of course, as always, it was only rumours.

I am sure I have the Southern Speed race of 1984 on Video somewhere. I will get it out and send it to JF for putting on Boatmad. On that Video you can see "Disprin" fairly hurtling along in comparison to my meagre 61mph flat out but then I had the poxy 290hp Volvo with the old 280 drive leg and I was in a different class.

Also, Stewart also came fourth overall in that Revenger SC in the 1984 Round Britain Race. Some considerable achievment by a 25ft boat by anyones standard.

No, Pete Berrows' Revenger was a Mediteranee 25 flat deck, (now belonging to Larby), built 'on the sly' at Trio, originally for him & his brother, but Peter bought his brother out.

A mate of Pete Berrows bought the 25SC 'Renegade' with intentions of refitting it & running in Touring class, but it ended up shrink-wrapped in Pete's mums garden for donkeys years. Dunno what happened to it after that.

I think Colin Stewart set a national record on windermere at 65mph with 'Disprin'.

Mike Ring took that up to almost 69mph with 'SVC', Ben to 70mph with 'Fuller Logistics', Pete Armstrong to 72mph with 'BRUT', then us to 74mph with 'Team Extreme', then again to 79mph with the newer yellow boat.

Phew!.... I guess!
Don't suppose it'd make much difference now anyhoo!

I'm suprised no one has yet mentioned what happens when 25" legs are fitted!!

For reference there's this one the same as mine with a single 300 verado by the looks of things, seems to be going well!

I found a Revenger 25SC sitting in the bottom of a garden - shrink wrapped - just off Junction 7 of the M27 about 3 years ago. Being naturally nosy I noticed it tucked up the side of building and just had to have a look. No engines though. Perhaps that's the one. Why people leave their Revenger’s out in all weathers for years I have no idea - maybe "The Bandit" can explain.

Indeed, West End. on a farm (Pete's mums). That is 'Renegade'

Can't remember the owners name, I think his family owned a shoe manufacturing company.

Because like most threads the original question gets ignored.

There is lots of info on here about a Revenger San Marino that had twins.

Having said that there was one with twin 200 efi i believe with 20" legs that ran well.
