An interesting article but as I can recall John Osborne was a boatbuilder in Guernsey not Jersey. As a schoolboy I used to regularly walk past Miss Guernsey/Guernsey Tom

There was a guy called Webster in Guernsey designing/building cats just over thirty years ago, I did him some dawings mixing my favourite aircraft the Spitfire and P51 Mustang with a cat hull so they came out with the bubble canopy.
I was bon in 1961 so must qualify in the Historic section.

Wish I had known about patent back then, who was the first to fit canopies!!

Hah hah
Webster cats eh.
Well originally they converted the old Cougar cat black and White whisky from Gas turbine to a Mercury 200 outboard.
Guy Raced it and I sat in the back in Jersey
On finishing the race GUY SHOWED OFF WITH A TIGHT TURN INTO THE PITS AND BARREL ROLLED IT
Got very wet
Guys dad designed and built a few cats fot Pete Wilson-known as the flying Tea chests locally stretched one from 90 Yamaha to 175 Merc and built one I think for Graham Scott and one for Steve nicolle not sure it lasted that well
