a big thanks
to the RNLI
for the first time, had to make use of thier services (and my flares, one of which didnt work, and the other got dropped into the sea after 3 seconds due to it burning my hand, needless to say wont be buying pinpoint flares again )as the battery died on the boat, within 20ish minuites had drifted about 1/2-3/4 of a mile, anyone who knows the bristol channel will know what the current is like, so was actually really scared when faced with drifting into brean down
but all credit to the life boat and coastguard, they found us on the shore as we had fortunately managed to beach ourselves, and towed us back to harbour, the gentleman riding in my boat, just about to sit down to a sunday lunch when he was paged so felt extremely guilty
needless to say not even thinking of charging the battery, im just getting a new 1 as that had had a full days charge yesterday

Well worth getting one of these and keeping on board good for trailer tires too. On offer as well!

Did you not have a pull cord with you?

not as hard as trying to row your boat to shore one using an oar, one using a race ski and the other off the back using their legs

I was surprised to see a little pouch containing a Pull cord attached under the cowling of my Suzuki 200EFI.
After fitting the engine to the boat I thought I'd try it, and was surprised I manged to start it.
What I've not tried yet, and must do, is try it with the batteries very flat. With the EFI of course you need to spin it fast enough to get current from the generator to power the fuel pump.
Nasher.
