Advice on driving

Went out yesterday in the extreme and there was a 6ft+ steep sided swell that just threw the nose of the boat skyward, it wasn't a case of running up it, more like running into it, and the next swell was pretty close but just that bit too far to jump from crest to crest, more like crest to bottom of trough and I didn't feel comfortable heading into them, running with them was better.

I did head at an angle into them (1/4 sea) and found that easier going, and think I can get the hang of that with a bit more practice but any advice on driving would be great, still haven't really played with my tabs, so I need to get some more playtime in.

And If I do get some sensible answers I promise my next post will contain more than 2 full stops

Sensible answer number 1 - Fit a supercharger so you can reach the next wave.

Sensible answer number 2 - Get a longer boat so that the bow has a chance to get there before the stern leaves the water.

Any more help I can be just shout

James between you and me I reckon Pickle was driving the first race ! Boat length has a surprising amount to do with it though specialy in big swells.
It could also be if the engine is producing significantly different power that a prop change is needed
