Turns out the Laser II I bought is a small hub. This explains why I was getting short bursts of cavitation, even when cruising at speed on flat calm water. I feared these interruptions were engine based, but it's all coming together now.

With engine sitting lower and steering tightened up, things feeling mush more assured.

Anybody want to swap my small hub 22" Laser?
