I have been trying to contact rickracers for nearly a couple of weeks now. I finally got an email back from them a few hours after post this on S&F.

When Rick started out, I made an order off him and was happy with both price and service.
Soon after, a guy on S&F called havasu barney claimed Rick had done the dirty on a deal with him - something along the lines that rick had sold a boat for barney, but kept the money. It turned out Rick was having some pretty tough times financially and the S&Fers rallied round him. I don't know whether Barney ever got his money or not, but it all went pretty quiet for a while. Barney was always a controversial guy and he ended up getting banned from S&F multiple times. I didn't always agree with what he said, but he was always vastly entertaining.
Anyway, since then I've kinda kept an eye on Rick, same as I do for any supplier I may use in the future. There does seem to be a cyclical pattern of extremely long lead times & lost orders. I believe the parts business is just a sideline and when his "normal" work is particularly busy, the boat parts business gets pushed aside. This I understand, although assuming this is the case, I do think he should be a bit more transparent about lead times and stock levels - if someone knows they're gonna wait 2 months, but get it cheap they can then make the decision themselves whether to pursue the order or pay more somewhere else and get the part quicker.
Would I order from Rick again - I'm not sure to be honest. Seeing your post on S&F, my first thought was "here we go again". But I've had just as much trouble ordering boat parts from a shop 4 miles away from my house before. Would be interested if Rick "makes good" now you've made it clear you're peeved, or whether he just fulfils the order and moves on.

To be perfectly honest I didnt want to post that on S&F but after god knows how many emails it was the only thing I could think of that might get response. It worked! I have ordered stuff before from rickracers and waited ages for it but always got replys to my emails but whats pissed me off this time was I emailed and asked befored I ordered how long it was likely to take and hey said 3-4weeks maybe 5 so I thought ok. I ordered my stuff on the 08/10/06 and it was "shipped" on the 08/12/06 and its been 5 odd weeks and no delivery so where the hell it is? Thats what I wanted to know but my emails were ignored! Until I posted on S&F of course
In a nut shell it does not take this long to get the goods and ship them. If they sorted their problems out then they would have a good little mail order business!

Reckon all postal services are on a par with each other, but wherever possible I specify USPS since they're loads cheaper than UPS, DHL etc. I assume it was the shipping co that lost it in the warehouse?

I dont know the full in's and out's of it but I send stuff all over the world on a daily basis at work via many different carriers and I know for a fact that the minute something goes missing the carriers are alerted to it ASAP. I get atleast 2 calls a week telling me something has been lost!
In a nut shell once we have printed a label for a consignment then its scanned at every stage of the process so I find it very hard to believe that it was just sitting on a shelf somewhere in Miami just waiting for someone to stumble across it!

I think their problem might be they have a minimum order value from their suppliers to get their prices low. They offer a very good price if you can standard the wait and lack of communications.
