I dunno, as I haven't got either of them, but the gps part of the contour is what appeals to me.

I was looking at these last night, amazing bit of kit.

From what i gather the contour logs position and speed with the video and overlays on a map to view on playback.

Pretty neat idea.

The skater vid is fairly self explanatory if you atch it.

Cant find any pricing on it. Wonder how it compares to the gopro?

The contour HD camera is supposed to be better in low light than the GoPro.
I also reckon the GoPro works best (smoothest) in 1280 mode, i.e., 1280x720 (720p) and 1280x960. In 1080 mode i don't think its at its best (the GoPro). The contour looks very good in full HD from what I've seen.

I own the Contour and the GoPro..

Contour all the way. It is easiest to use, it has a recording format (mov) that is easy to use, it has a on/off switch so every video does not start with someones face in it. I get a lot of error files on the GoPro not a problem with the Contour and the GPS makes it great

Go Bandit

Have a little look at the Gobandit camera, can be used vertical or Horizontal, water proof and has a GPS. we use it in the rally car and works really well. and after you can over lay it on google maps. gives you top speed/ave speed ETC , its pretty cool bit of kit!

Go Bandit GPS=720@30fps (No 1080 rec) 135 degree wide angle
Contour GPS = 720@60fps, 1080@30fps, 135 degree wide angle
Gopro(no GPS)=720@60fps, 1080@30fps, 170 degree wide angle

So, look like GoPro has best recording capabilities, but no GPS. Contour sell a 'plus' model which has the same recording spec as GoPro but no GPS......wonder if they will release a Contour Plus GPS ......time to send an email & request it

Looks like the recording is the same for the gopro and the contour, just the lens angle is different and I am not a fan of the fish eye but contour has a 170 degree lens available
