Typical EX poerboat racer "It was'nt like that in my day. Blah blah" Remember John that speeds have gone up considerably and boat weight come down as well. I'd go out in anything if i had a boat weighing in at over 2000 kg!!!

I'll put some video together later, of a rough-ish race this year ('05), where a 21 phantom is lapping...., oh yeah, lapping you! in your 23 foot, stepped, mannerfelt! don't think Ian Sirlings Phantom weighs 2 tons, does it?. Just trying to make my point about 'modern' stepped, minimum recovery 'very fast' monohulls.

Yeah at ramsgate, Cracking drive by old beardy! Did you see the damage afterwards? Obviously not. He was lucky that he still had an engine attatched to the boat other than by the cables. IMHO that was'nt racing more like survival.

I'll be the first to admit that I dont enjoy those conditions in the B23. Remember Torquay 95 in the rib we whooped arse there. Only CB3 and miller beat us then.

Yes, but years ago, like it or not, 'survival' was part of *Offshore* racing.
It's all sprint racing now, with multiple, short, inshore laps, fragile boats, fragile equipment (lifters etc) and fragile drivers

and to think they let us race the K250s inside the royal harbour there too, great experience but our 400s and 1000s suffererd, survival being the case ask K9 racing

Was enough though!!!! They were good days but things have moved on now. 3c boats are doing the same sort of speed now as class 1 15 years ago. Well perhaps a little longer than that but you get my drift.

Yes that was rough. I seem to remember Mumford racing off at the front only to get their navigation horriably wrong.
