F1 motors are EFI not carbs and the more recent ones come with Brucato SVS instead of the horn.

Must be a very old one, cos the oldest ones I can remember were 2.0l efi's before the 2.5 efi's they currently run.

The 2.0 F1 will rev to around 11K with the single ring pistons.
I have had one of these motors on the P20 that I currently own, bought it brand new one of that last that mercury produced.

Very nice engine had to rev it to get the power, seen around 8,150 on the P20 with a 21.5" prop.

Was as quick as a well tuned 2.5EFI
The F1 also runs on Avgas only

I think what Karls mate has is a very early F1 on carbs.
Seen something similar at Phil Colins place a few years ago, F1 on carbs with 19cc Twin spark heads.
