hi guys, i am thinking about buying a 19 argo and if im not mistaken they are designed for 1.8ltr motors and they do about 70 knts? i was wondering how u think it would run with a 90 yamaha

My other half ran one in OCR for a couple of seasons with a 90 Tohatsu. We had to set it up tandem to get the best out of it but it went well, particularly in the rough.

Excellent boat !! Particularly with 130 Yam but should be good with a 90. Are you planning to race it ??

A class is modified 70 or stock 90 (competition is 16 phantoms)
B class is modified 1.8ltr (competition mainly 18/19 phantoms and a sharp and also a ocke bat boat)
FB class is stock 150(competition mainly 18/19 phantoms and a sharp)

so im trying to decide which the baot would do best in, 45% of the race is rough water the rest is chop to calm water.. its the bermuda round the island race

Can anybody confirm this is a 19' Argo? They all look the same to me..! And has anybody seen splash guards on an Argo like this one has?

Is it possible to run side by side seating instead of the back to back setup? And if so, how does the ride compare (especially in rougher waters)? And fyi, this boat was supposedly getting 75mph out of the Evinrude 150 High Output...

First of all I would love to race in conditions like that!

They look like anti stuff fins of some sort - the idea is that when you run downwind and the boat stuffs, those fins will help bring the boat back to the surface.

It certainly looks like an Argo 19. and as cookee says they are stuff rails (quite handy on the Argo) although with the 130 Yam it would stay on top of most things if you were brave enough to push it.
We had to ban them from running with XR2's on safety grounds so with the 150ho its probably even worse.
Yes there is plenty of room side be side and will handle rough water much better, although slightly slower. I would certainly recomend it with the 1.8 ltr.

I can understand the anti stuff rails as Im assuming that because the water looks so inviting there would be some nasty sharks in there too

Thanks guys, I figured the rails were there for some sort of safety reason. I was just a little worried that a stuff at 60mph would result in them being torn out and leaving 2 big holes in the side of the hull!

For boat specific info, feel free to ask. The B19 is running a Reddish Marine Tohatsu 140XSR. There is ths Argo, a Sharp, a few Phantoms, a B22, a B23, 2 Skater 21's, a Ring, an Allison and then a 28' Skater and 30' Spectre. The ZapCats ran the race for the first time this year.

Half way through the race this happened:

What do you guys think? Fixable/raceable again? There is a little bit of flex on the sides where the hole is...but it's sturdy other than that. And what are the Argo's made out of - balsa and glass?

Presumably tripped and stuffed !! Certainly fixable but only if you have an equivelant to Kitten there !!

If that is correct then it has probably been repaired before from a stuff (but not very well) !! You have to remember that most of these boats were made for 90hp not 175 !!
