It looks like it was painted with union flag at the back aureon written in 80's style italic joined writing and entertainment underneath n bold writing! After that it looks like the white square for the number and then blue and white stripes goin along the rest of the length of the boat! im restoring it at the moment! its in very good condition but im having it completely stripped back and painted this weekend coming! Any info on this boat would appreciated!

I think it started life as John Yeomans first raceboat Hooper and Ashby. He raced a p21 in 1984 then got the cat for 85. BluFin, Adam, Johnson help!

Another thought e-maill kimleachman@1kpl.com I think he navigated inyour boat in '84

I have to be careful here!
There are many Phantom fans on the board!
1985 was to be a very competitive year, the new Campbell, Donahue and Cougar cats were coming into their own, whilst the older Stapley’s were still quick and capable of podiums!
The P21’ by then was already an 8 year + design and hadn’t won a race in 3C since 1st race in 84.
Drivers who preferred to race monohulls turned to the boats of Scandinavian Mikael Frode and later Richard Lucas’ Forge craft aluminium hulls became class beaters!
Then of course much later the Mannerfelt Bat Boats stole the show.
The Phantom was / is a wonderful boat, but newer design thinking sidelined it to Ski Racing and pleasure use.

I agree with all of the above, except maybe the bit about the Frode's, I think they only really excelled in the hands of Michael himself, and the main reason for them being popular late 80's/early 90's was the fact that they were fkkn cheap, as Paul hicks was 'knockin em art' as a cheap n cheerful race boats at that time.

I certainly remember seeing a few get that shovel nose burried good n deep when driven without the 'complete commitment' that Michael "I'll be back" Frode demonstrated.

Also remember Michaels answer to me when I asked him how Simon Woodpower was after a pretty high speed trip n stuff in Guernsey '93ish when I saw a load of clarret all over the deck of his 4 litre boat (simon was navigating for michael).........in that full on Swedish accent he said "He wasn't holding on!"

Remember (not sure which year) that Simon WP had a great year with the side by side deck Frode and won the National Champs. That led to the batch of Frodes that were built in this country - although they were not so succesful. Certainly had some wins - but were another boat that struggled in following seas.

Trying to remeber who had the boats: John Miller, Rob Stewart, another three?

Not to start with - John Millers boat was white with greenish stripes (Turning Point) - Adrian Jardines was yellow. Think his boat was damaged, not sure if on water or towing or both - then they joined up racing together?
