This is the word. I was lucky enough to have such a thing and survived my first few races because of this.

My helmets went missing, we found them in the back of another racers van and to make matters worse, he was the scrutineer.
The boat was scrutineered when neither I, or my navigater were present, we did not even get a briefing.
The boat was the slowest I've ever known during the race and dont know why yet.
We were told our helmets were no good and they gave us some spares, one of them was impossible to see out of which gave everyone a late start.

As organiser of the OCR teignmouth event,i dont understand why you were charged £270.00.The cost should have been £100 entry fee and £120 for 2 event licences for driver and navigator, and i suggest you contact the chairman regarding this. Your helmets were put into the scrutineers van for safe keeping, and the reason you werent allowed to use them was as Cider Daze states THEY WERE GECKO HELMETS!!!!(Yes i was on the safety boat that took you back to shore and i did point this out to you). Racers who didnt take part in the basic race kindly loaned you their helmets and as you discovered the reason you couldnt see was because of the foggy on the inside of the visor, once you removed it you could see clear as day.
Im sorry if you didnt enjoy the day but unfortunately due to bad weather on sunday all our national, charity and basic races were squeezed in on monday and all i can do is apologise on my own behalf and hope that you will consider attending next season.
Thankyou for attending the event this year.
