The test of a proper powerboat is in my opinion:

throwing a boat in a field somewhere or at sea without it being coverred or taken care of for a couple of years and see who comes out in usuable shape.

Very unlikely a rib would make it

There always seems to be a lot of "if only" with Hard Proper Powerboats..
My P28 is ready and willing, however, I'm in Prague next week, so that's that.

hmmm... Can't say I understand why so many are negative to RIBs. To me they appear to make up a large portion of the marathon fleet, and without them this sport would be in serious trouble. In addition, the first one to offer a boat to what is surely a marketing advantage to the sport is James with a properly prepared RIB - come on, guys. RIBs are here to stay, customers want them, customers want to race them, and customers WILL beat many of you with "proper" powerboats. Plus, given Hammonds track record of hitting things he'll need the extra padding

Dammit, makes me rethink our ambition to find a hard boat for CMC2013

Sorry to be boring but any boat used will have to be coded and insured for Commercial use and have a Commercially qualified skipper on board. They are really hot on this on the thames
