BluFin Thanks for the accurate info!
Alitalia Uno was the boat of Cosentino, but in that CTC it was in hands of Giulio De Angelis because he pursuing points for qualify himself to the final World Champ. in Argentina.
Cosentino was in the old De Angelis Cig.36' Eraf-Alitalia Due(former Balestrieri's Black Tornado).

I wish I´d been in that little fishing boat with Satisfaction on one side and Limit Up on the other! I know Errol Lanier was the throttle man most people remember throttling Satisfaction at Cowes, but if memory serves me correctly my personal hero Richie Powers throttled the boat one year also (at Cowes).

Sorry BT I think you're wrong. In 1975 Charles Gill ran 069 "I Like It" which according to Basildon Powerboat Museum was the ex "HTS" before it became "APACHE". I am pretty sure that "I Like It Too" only ran in those colours in 1976, the year it won the CTC. After that it became Realite Charger.

Then had a very sad convertion to a 'cruiser deck' in timber! Another one bites the dust!

Sorry Split! He's right. Pangare Gringo only raced at Cowes in 1975, the year Wally Franz won the UIM World Championship.

Now THAT, is a 'big air' shot!

That had to be a scarey landing, I wonder how it went.

Shots like that were very common, back in the days when we raced in open ocean water. That shot was from one of the Key West races, it is on the homeward bound leg from Dry Tortugas.

In the old days, we would run out to Dry Tortugas from Key West, avoiding the reefs and had open ocean water all the way.

We have more shots from the good old days on

We are very thankful for any interest in the history of the sport and appreciate all kinds of threads like this.

Give Dry Martini the benefit of the doubt, but Mr Hagen in Apache you are ahead of the transom of the start boat.

Just upgraded my membership on OSO this week and started to pay for access to the platinum section - worth every penny! Seems this thread has mirrored one on their site - check out the pics on the saving of historic raceboats thread if you haven´t already. Loads of Bertrams/Cobras/Cougars etc. Marvellous!

I like it Too was in the 1975 & 1976 CTC

My Dad was the Nav in 75. Jim Brooker Throttles in the middle, Charles Gill Helm on LHS of boat. At some point either end of 75 or early 76 they had either a hook or think the bow would rise up and get unstable, this damaged he boat (engine covers) plus his sholder so stopped racing. Then started supporting ClassIII mainly with safety & that LM old points board.

As mentioned elsewhere Charles bought the boat from Doc Magoon. We have some photos when over there buying it - think it cost £26k back then.

The boat was really loud with the side mounted exhausts.

A Northen guy can't remember his name did he Nav in 76 and they won the CTC.

Well thats my memory anyway.
