Yup, lucky fecker! They're great aren't they.

We had a Dolphin encounter a few years back in Lyme bay, doesn't sound like it would hold a candle to your meeting in the Solent, but was good all the same.

A short vid:

We have twice seen Dolphins in Plymouth Sound, over about ten years, though nothing as close up & fascinating as your encounter.

The first time was the best. The Dolphins raced alongside the boat, breaking the surface. One batted a fish into the air, caught it & ate it! Unfortunately, each time we stopped moving the Dolphins would clear off, only returning once we were moving at a fair lick.

We thought at first they were trying to race us (we were doing 25ish) until they all just took off & left us behind.

Fantastic animals.

like buses . . . . ski race training on tuesday nite in the sound and spotted a dolphin in front of us twice! It made for an interesting session as I was behind the boat 200ft away at 75mph!

All safe and sound in the sound

These were taken last month when I was working offshore in West Africa.

The first three were taken on the same day and the forth one about a week earlier.

These guys were just swimming outside our area of operations so we launched the FRC to go and get some photo's. They must have been swimming near us for nigh on half an hour - amazing sight.

They really are spectacular creatures. Ive only seen them off the coast of Oman in very large numbers.

I wish id have been there to witness your encounter in the Solent.
