Boat / Engine, Maintenance / Age

My boat and engine both have serial numbers relating to 2001, however the boat was originally sold as a package by a fletcher dealer according to the warranty registration and original bill of sale on the 05/04/2003.

The service book says the timing belt should be changed every 1000 hours or five years the boat has done 150 hours.

Does the timing belt need changing in 2006 or 2008?

Also If I sold the boat is it a 2001 or a 2003?

Cheers

I would advertise the boat as "Commissioned in 2003" (or similar) but then make it VERY clear to anyone whom enquires the year of manufacture; afteral car manufacturers give no indication of the date of build.

in that respect, I'd guess the timing belt would be 2008 (unless it shows signs of wear).

Back when i was in the "Motor" trade it would not be uncommon for a new Lancia to sit in a field for 18-24mths before being sold, I recall one "Trevi" was nearly 30mths and was rusty before it was registered !
