I was running a quaife diff which had a shot peened crown wheel and pinon and a paddle clutch

Nah Taz, not a Trans-Am.
They are so "Smokey & the bandit" and certainly not the best American muscle car of the time.
That reminds me, im putting a deposit on my new car today.
