I'm sure most of you on here have heard of the Caudwell Engines at some stage or another...

I was chatting about them the other day with some mates and we were having a chuckle about them, last time we spoke to one of the Salesmen at the Southampton Boat Show this poor fellow was so far out of his depth answering some simple engineering questions and was fumbling through the Specs and details.

Things like cantelever forces on the engine mounts being cancelled out by the torque of the prop while the engine sits at a 45 deg angle and of course the most talked about aspect of owning one of these...Which boat builder is going to make a new mould just to fit the transom at 45 deg to accomodate this motor.

It will be interesting to hear the views of others out there, so chaps fire away and lets see what we all think...

Seems by the looks of the computer drawing on their website they have abandonded the 45 Deg angle for the F1 boat...oops so much for space saving and advances in design and technology!!

They are the importers rather than the engineers - I'm sure you could tie a car salesman in knots as well! Did they offer to have an engineer get in touch with you as I imagine they have fitted engines to boats and they could answer the questions for you.

On the other hand it is a huge commitment to make a boat with a 45 degree transom and with a stepped hull you can't just move the bottom of the transom forwards. Time will tell if it's a success - they certainly have a big development budget!
