I always thought they were a rehash of a Driver 500, approx same proportions, different deck & topsides altered.

Its a waverider. One of the last models they produced.

Check out this site www.dsv.su.se/~klas/Boats/home.html and click on the link "other waveriders".

well I'm pretty sure waverider & driver/ streaker had a crossover at the end so its seems abot right.

Hi Captain Chaos

I remember something about the driver hull being used but can't think why. I mainly remember them knocking out those rehashed shakespears, (classics back in the day).

Well as far as I was aware. Driver ran as a bonafide business for years (440,500,560) then the last 10 years came to see a transition of models (510 etc), various builders, poorer quality etc.

Meanwhile Waverider had moved (perhaps only some) of the building to Essex (Oldenburg Sports, Mustang etc) and then I think entwined with the peeps that were doing the Drivers at that stage.

The the Driver derived stuff such as 'Streaker' popped up as well.

Captain Chaos

Thanks for firing up the memory banks.

My father and I looked at the Waverider Mustang at Earls Court one year but went for a Picton in the end. Our previous boat ( a Glastron SSV) we bought via Kite marine in Essex (John Stanton?) who I thought had some involvement with Waverider but its all a bit hazy as it was such a long way back.
