Hi Nigel
In that same race(Venice World Championships 1979) another woodden cat was prapared for guido Niccolai from Molinari.
It was tested for the first time in the early morning before the race but the italian driver then choose to raced with the old mono Shead 38'.
He finished second overall after a battle on the finish line with the Cigarette 35' of Tim Powell(Doxford was aboard of Toleman's woodden Cougar cat with central cockpit).
That Dry Martini cat then was abandoned.
To beat the cats in 1980,Niccolai preferred a very light mono 35'(a Shead 38' shortened) builded that year by Picchiotti shipyards.
