Very sad to hear the news.
I had only just got to know the great man, he was a true gentleman.
I just happened to bump into him on Monday night and he was happy and relaxed, that is how I will remember him. RIP Colin

Very sad, I am in shock, he had just made the new hatch for my boat which I fitted today.

meant to say 'worked with Colin' above.

doubt if anything I said or did made much sense yesterday - just such a shock.

Only had a beer with Colin last week and don't think I had ever known him to be happier with life. Then spoke to him on Tuesday about a project we were going to do together and he was on top form.

Message from Jeremy Watts

I hope by now you have already been made aware of the tragic and sudden death of Colin Weston. He died of a heart attack Tuesday evening whilst training for a swimming event this weekend. He was only 51. Those of you who knew Colin well, either through work or socially will know what a terrible loss this is, he was a good man in every sense, technically brilliant and a dear friend. He will be sadly missed on many levels and our thoughts are with his family, wife Sue and 20 month old son Charlie.

Colinís funeral service is now confirmed for Friday 30th July 10.45am at St Peters Catholic Church, Winchester. Please pass this information on to anyone who may have known Colin so they are aware and will have the option of attending.

Sincerely

Jeremy

Such sad news to hear at his age. Hope no one minds me asking, but who was he/ what did he do? Sounds like he really was a great loss to the community.

Colin Weston

Colin's death is a real shock to anyone who knew him. For those who didn't know him, the short description is that he was an expert in composites and composite structural design and processes. He was particularly adept at high speed powercraft structures. The long description is too long to put down here, but he was incredibly versatile, with a very agile mind - he could select the materials, design the structure, build the plug, build the mould, work out the resin infusion system and in addition he could oversee the whole project (in fact, a number of projects at the same time); all the while overcoming any problems that the job threw at him. Although I used to design my own structures, for the last 10 years I had handed this part of my design work over to Colin.

Along with all that he was a friend and colleague for over 20 years and one of the nicest and most genuine people I have ever met. There was no hidden agenda. He said what he meant but always in the nicest way and he would listen to others, too. I will miss him terribly, and I know there are many like me in that respect.

Best wishes and strength to Sue and 20 month old Charlie. Our thoughts are with you. Very sad times.

Hi, i never knew of him until now, it is such a shame to only hear of someone, who it seems is a valid member of this community when something like this happends.

My condolences to all his friends and family. Maybe a collection can be set up for a reaf on behalf of his friends from boatmad?
