We'll be there covering Rescue from Sunday afternoon until the end of the event.

Get you and your boat there, scrutineered and the get your entry into the stack (entry list). On Monday morning (and each morning), names are taken from the stack and they run from 7am onwards.

If the weather is really flat and calm, the high speed boys (and girls) will get the first call as they need calmer water than offshore guys.

Days usually end around 5pm, split with a couple of hours or so for lunch.

Obviously you don't need to go all week! All depends on the weather though!
Hope this helps,
Carl.

3B speed record

It now transpires that all existing speed records in the offshore class 3B were frozen by the UIM in January.

The Swedish Federation have announced that a new world record was established at Oregrund last week by Daniel Svensson at 124.79 kph / 77.54 mph, driving a Yamaha powered Argo.

The previous speed was held by Magnus Osterhom at 83.16 mph.

Subsequently the British 3B record is now vacant and available for competitors to attempt at the Coniston speed week.

I thought that to set a new national or world record in a class, you had to have competed in it during the season.

That's pretty amazing considering Thomas Rosen in 3C had a hard time getting to 97mph - 155kph. However in F2000 the new inshore World record stands at 122.43 mph - 195.89 kph.

Qualification requirements

Following the recent e mail correspondence concerning eligibility of offshore classes to participate at Coniston Speed Week, the following proposal has been approved by the chairman and a majority of voting members of the ORC.

The current rule in PB1 Q7 page 131/132 states that to be eligible to attempt a National Record a boat must have either finished 1st 2nd or 3rd in a national points race or have competed in three national races in the same year.

The ORC have unanimously agreed to delete this rule with immediate effect. All offshore classes are now eligible to attend records week and attempt to set new class records.

Refer to UIM rule 601.04 regarding the qualification for world records.

It could also be that not everybody gets a podium place but would like to have a go at a speed record.

Also it opens the field for others to have a go.
