Was wondering how mine will sit in the water, looking at that with an engine twice the weight mine should be fine. My C of G should be much lower, will be interesting to see how the blue one fairs in racing, I bet it sound awesome. Its a shame the cougar 27 never got developed into inboard for racing. My engine looks lost in the engine bay in comparison.

Cougar 27 cuddy
Just finished carpeting and fitting out the cuddy. Mounted a fan on a piece of plywood that fitted the deck hatch to draw air through the cabin whilst I was gluing the carpet in, still quite strong fumes from the adhesive. Took four long days to fit the carpet and followed all the lines of the internal rib structure.
The floor space has turned out quite well being 7 feet long and 6ft at the widest point. Fitted radio, speakers, shore power with RCD and 13 amp socket, galvanic isolator, cigaret lighter socket, led strip light and ball swivel reading light.
I have front bulkhead storage locker, under floor storage and a cupboard to the left as you enter the cabin.
Really quite please with it bearing in mind that it started as a race boat. Should be quite cozy for overnight sleeping.

Its going to be very interesting to see how it performs in comparison to the standard Honda 225 setup. I was told that if it was designed with the steped hull for its standard designed weight, with the BBC and drive (600Kg) and probably 300 instead of the standard 150 liters of fuel its going to be considerably heavier than standard.
Can't wait to see a video of it racing.

First outing gremlins
First time in the water today.
Good points.
Sat in the water well, not too arse end heavy
Tows on trailer really well
Nice to see Garmin 3D View chart plotter, sonar depth gauge and real time sea bed works well.
All Liversy gauges including raw water flow meter works really well.
Cut through the chop in the Solent well and seamed really stable.
Bad Point
Everything went well bar the engine. Opened it up to wide open throttle 2800rpm, 42Knots on sat nav, and appears to be lumpy and missing on one cylinder. Seems to be like this from 1000rpm upward when in gear. Engage neutral and revs really cleanly. Ran really well under load when the engine was on the dyno.
Initially used a 25 x 14 3/4 prop, wondered if it was massively over propped so then tried 26 x 14 over hub cleaver, not really much change. When nailed from standstill no cavitation and takes about 10 second to get on the plane.
Returned to drivers and metered trough engine wiring to the pizo injectors, all seemed OK. Took it out for another quick test but still the same so lifted it out and went home.
The best way to describe it is as it had a really badly bent prop shaft, but its defiantly not that.
Going to take the injectors out tomorrow and do a compression test, if that's OK will get the injectors tested.
Bar that everything else went really well
