Dangers in Key West

Having witnessed the Zero Defect accident in the mid 90´s, it occurs to me that there is a real chance (when you think about it) of a raceboat launching skywards and veering into the crowd onshore - the boats are so close. So I guess what I´m saying is - enjoy it while it lasts!! If such an accident should occur it would surely change things forever.

Having just come back from my first visit to the event, I spoke of these dangers to all of the brits out there while we were watching boats like "Big Thunder" roar past with 6000 horsepower in the mid 100's only 25 yards away at times!

Because of the narrow course at that point there are a lot of wakes, and of course they all bounce off the quay making it choppy, and if a boat ever lost it and hooked right it would probably end up in the hotel pool making a right mess of everyone on the way!

Just flipping through some old threads I came across this - ironic given what happened to the Big Thunder team.
