Actually it was strictly for the cameras - I really wasn't going that fast as they were pretty good surfing type waves coming in over the bar in Salcombe, all I had to do was cruise up to a wave at about 15mph and drop over the top - with there being a bit of a drop on the back of the wave it makes it look a lot more spectacular than it really was.

I'll never forget the first season of racing a BananaShark - we went to the World Class III 2 litre Champs in Viareggio, and there were some great swells coming in by the harbour and all of the other boats were timing it to miss the waves and run down the beach to where it was flatter to make it easier - I was racing with Derek Basham who drove for the first season and we just turned left out of the marina and got huge air ................ sadly it was a bit flat, so all the bits we made up on the swells we lost on the flat bits to the cats - never mind!

I know what you mean, the picture in my avatar was the same (for the camera I mean ), just crusing along then nailing the thing open just to jump a little bit of spent wake !
What a great place Viareggio is - we went for our honeymoon in 2000, had a balcony room in a hotel on the front and had a blast walking round the boat sheds and eating fresh seafood. It was fun to sit late in the night on our balcony with a night cap watching the boad transporters trying to negotiate the 'kin big motor yachts round the place out of town and being buzzed by the swarm of motorised two wheel hairdryers !

Lost Anymore Teeth Cookie

Was Lemmer your co-driver in the airborne pic as I know you have tremendous faith in his rough water skills.
