Evinrude etec Ho engine height. Maybe p1. Ss

Wondering what is a good starting point for my 250ho etec in terms of height. Anyone know how high they sit on the p1 super stocks for example?
Thanks gt

What gearcase do you have? You'll be restricted on height by the stock pickups. Is your hull stepped or Unstepped?

Hi Paul

It's the Lightning gear case on 250ho 2008.

Twin stepped hull, I don't know how high it was before as transom been done. But she did cavitate when trying to plane.

Speed was 71mph with 26 raker 700rpm down. It will be on a 6 inch offset bracket and manual lifter

Ok so the offset bracket won't work as front mount steering hits transom even with a small amount of tilt. I'd have to raise it along way to clear. Gonna bolt it straight on back of boat. It is a lightning 2 gearbox. In the lowest hole the prop is gonna be about 2-3" below pad.

So will I get enough water? Looking at old pictures the engine will be roughly where it was, but centre on boat now as it was offset an inch or two starboard. . I have not cut transom down when I replaced it, and I have fitted an outboard well too. Transom actually measures 24.5" and engine is long shaft. Originally the engine would get a bit warm at river speeds and a quick blast would cool her down before the alarm went off.

Two options. Evinrude do big water scoops, anyone tried them? Or a bobs nose cone? Will either slow it down?
Thanks

If it were me I'd go for a Bob's cone. I used a set of the larger scoops briefly with my 200HO on a big bracket on a Ring 21 and they didn't like going high, I'd get an almost instant overheat alarm. The Bob's cone slowing you down is a myth I'm sure. Maybe at the same height as a stock case they're slower, but the speed gains from going up on a stepped hull that doesn't need a lot of bow lift will more than compensate

Thanks Paul for feedback

I've emailed bobs about prices and shipping. If the big scoops didn't help you with setback fhey probably won't me too. if I can get some cheap or 2nd hand I might try them

My p21 runs a 250 HO L2 gearbox at 25.5 inch height. It cools perfectly. One notch higher and it overheats. D

Props shaft is about 2.5 inches below the hull line . Any higher and it starts to overheat on my L2 gearbox. I am going to put a water pickup on the transom and feed water direct to water pump, don't like the look of Bobs noses. They always seam to crack up in time and I don't want to weld one to my box.
