Yeah and I'm sure they weren't boatless for a whole season!

Shame the current owner of RM hasn't looked after it so well, it's starting to look a little shabby, shame as those boys(!) looked after that boat better than they looked after their birds!

Eh! I must be missing something here? I thought the Yanmar did sound like a lorry, but I liked it!

Fair enough tho, although not sure I could live with 50mph max how fast was it with the engine previous to that? 70+mph?

Are you saying max speed with the 315hp yanmar is 50mph? Or am I chewing the wrong end of the stick?

Yes, wrong end! The Yan (current motor) runs just over 60 .. the old GM V8 did 50 .. But the Yan is also very economical.

I'll be honest, if its the one that is sitting on the opposite side of the road to aladins cave on the hamble (opposite side of river to Sealine uk) then i thout it looked to be in a bit of a sorry state. Some poorly repaired gel damage on the drivers side and a hole in the transom that looked like it used to house an exhaust.

Looked a bit scruffy and in need of some TLC - nothing too majo though. It had a diesel mercruiser leg on it - im sure the guy in the outboard service shop said somethin about 25k

Just spoken to him on the phone again he says he wants as close to £30k as he can get!

Going to see it later this evening, so will see what its like... 30k sounds a bit 'extreme' (pardon the pun)

A boat that becomes worth more the older it gets - there's a first.

nope bought maelstrom from cuzuns cuzin in nov 2000, ran it all 2001 season then sold approx oct 2001 as I moved abroad....
Capt Dumbo bought the phantom 16 for 2002 season
Red Mist ordered Oct 2002, delivered june 03, sold dec 04
Tomahawk bought Nov04

maelstrom had a merc bravo 1 drive (not X drive) we blew the upper gears in june 01 season, replaced with mike teague upgraded upper gears..
had a single thru transom exhaust....

we bought maelstrom with 8 hours on the yanmar 315, sold with about 100 hours...
owned by a guy at cobbs for another 2 years before moving to soton....

shouldnt be worth more than 20k in good condition, but then again its all about supply v's demand!!!

well cant believe the guy paid more than 22k for it in 2003/4 ish and 2 years on would think worth 20k is a fair price....

i would not pay more than 22k for it and thats if its in top condition, interior/cockpit and a full service history on engines and drives since i sold it !!

I'm sure the geezer who took it to soton was called Brian and it was stored inside for over a year!!

you seen it yet??

Indeed, his name is Brian. He said hes had it about 2.5 years, and never used it.

He said he has done some work on it, some new water pickups, and some airfilter stuff...etc (I dont know a lot about engines and the like)

going to look at it shortly

Have a look at David Graham-Smith's HTM 24ft Cat on The Trading Post.

Doh! How could I have forgotton Brussells!

Benc ... considering what Admiral sold it for nearly 5 years ago, the fact that its now done more hours, probably not looked after as well and even regardless of supply and demand, this boat can't be worth much more than 20k? I guess that diesels are more sought after than they were 5 years ago, but thats gotta be the only/main reason for this boat not depreciating, surely? .. But it can't be worth more than it was 5 years ago! remembering, this boat has had a pretty hard life!

looks wise shame it wasn't left as Jon, Cuzin, Admiral left it ... not sure what she looks like now, just remembered it having the large name ripped off the side and a small name in black put on - didn't look half as cool ...

So let us know how you got on when you get back!
