floors

Hi guys
I need some photos of simple floors if any one can help be great! along the lines less weight more speed?

I am Pressuming you are referring to boats like phantoms etc that have been built for racing? These boats only have a small floor area for bolting seats too, BUT its not as straight forward as just cutting away flooring to reveal the stringers. these boats would have had a specific lay up schedual to compensate for lack of structural flooring. if you take something out you must put something back in.

Yeah I get what your on about!, I know my boat has had a similar floor but long since gone

and the one I took out was **shite** to say the least....

A professional fiberglasser is doing the work so as for quality i know it will be good!... the floor in the link is the sort of thing I'm after

that is more of a standard flooring set up in the 16 phantom. i think you will be ok if you do similar.

Bare minimum in my Bernico, but as Renegade says unless your hull design and layup is made for no floor then it'll do more harm than good!

I can confirm that having the floor come adrift in a P16 leaves one feeling as though you are driving a bowl of porridge.

Still must ignore the nav and push on for the end of the race.

phantoms are touch different from my sharp 19 but i know what you mean on the handling side....sketchy comes to mind.....

Phantoms sketchy handling don't thinks so more like sketchy driving comes to mind.......

I know that Paul what I mean is to rip your sole out you must of been driving like you stole it or not keeping a good eye on maintaining the p16 if giving it a hard life.

i don't own a p16 i was using as an example.... i own a sharp 19, just wanted to know the differents between a race floor structure and standard

At the time I was on wire steering on outriggers and my nav having ripped the handholds out was stuck with holding the dash.

Apparently I was cocking a deaf 'un through the whole race mainly due to the wheel I was holding not being quite where I expected it to be as a result of the boat being somewhat flexible and the seat I was on being attached to said free floating floor.

The end result of it all being that said nav had stripped every bit of flesh off his knuckles from the wire steering whipping against them and has had a lifetime under a chiro/osteo. Funny enough he declined to race with me again.

It was though a testament to Steve that it made it home in that state and was still easily repairable!
