I don't really know what to say. I didn't see a single wave any taller than the boats. and only a handfull of white caps.

Still, if the man says they were 8-10-12 footers, they were. they appeared to be running beam on to the sea aswell.

The guy said he hadn't seen such MASSIVE seas in a race in over 20 years.....a handful of small-ish whitecaps!...righto.

I would ask though, have you heard of Fabio Buzzi and his legendary 44 footer CESA, with which (and other similar Buzzi creations) he has shown you lot the way home in the rough on a good few occasions?

That 2400hp monster, now named 'Red FPT' (in his fairly capable hands) averaged only 59mph at Cowes this year. ask yourself what slowed him down.

Then, you & Gino come over here and I hope we can provide some interesting conditions for you, and you can prove your metal, and our miss judgement of your racing

If that's the roughest water by far, raced on in over 20 years, I can now see why you think there isn't a sea that correct throttling & trimming wouldn't stop you from stuffing in, or taking the tops off waves in (what we did).

Well sorry to say but if you call that rough water you really need to come over to UK to sample some real rough water i could water ski on that water!! Claire

I'm afraid you to need to come over to the UK or Ireland. Where you can at times just have green walls of water that you can spend hours punching through. There are many people here who are far more experienced from a racing background than me that have many stories of extreme weather.
I will dig out some photos from various events, that be it, asome re not racing but have still run, I think you will be surprised what we all go out in.

The video shown, is the kind of weather I would take non boaty mates out to go down the coast for a pint with no bother.

The Boats are running well but this can't be held as an example of rough weather by any means.

Jeez that water is huge did you see how the Hard Rock Fountain left the water? I don't think I would like to run in that for four hours or is it 40 mins???

I have done some pleasure boating in that stretch of water, they have deliberately picked the sheltered part for the course.

But if you were to go out another mile, it is most unpleasant.

The point is here that the great names from US Offshore Racing from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's who did race long distances in big seas are not remembered by the new bread of US racer who think running a Skater Cat for 8 minutes is a bravado show worthy of hyperbole TV coverage.

and i did not mean to say it ruffer then the UK, but in that water we do 70-90 MPH !!!! honestly i dont think this was 8-12 feet ..but it was real 6-8 !!

I reckon the closest the 'DAREDEVIL' ever gets to doing anything remotely daring or anything that is 8 feet is his constantly putting his size 8 foot in his mouth everytime he comes on this site

I see the winning boat only ran for 7m 35s at a average speed of 58 mph, we would be as fast in conditions like that, with 2 tiny diesel engines.

Just watched the film and assume that there has been a mix up withe the interviews as they seem to be talking about a completely different sea condition to the one being broadcast!
